Y Sul hwn a'r wythnos o'n blaenau...
Diolchgarwch am fendithion yr Ŵyl
Ysgrifenna’r Is-Ddeon:
Ni phylodd, dros wythnosau’r Adfent, y llewyrch a welais yn ystod ein Defod Hwyrol at Sul yr Adfent, wrth i Wylnos Rachmaninoff gynnal ein gweddïau yng ngolau cannwyll. Byw fu’r golau wrth i ni groesawu llu o ysgolion, elusennau, corau cymunedol a sefydliadau gwirfoddol i’w gwasanaethau carolau. Bu’n fwy disglair fyth wrth i ni gasglu rhoddion ar gyfer Shelter Cymru, ein Helusen Nadolig 2023, yn ogystal ag at waith Cymorth Cristnogol yn y Dwyrain Canol a gweinidogaeth Banc Bwyd y Gadeirlan. Disgleiriodd yn ffyddlon yn ystod ein defodau Adfent rheolaidd yn y Gadeirlan ac yn Eglwys y Groes. Yn fwy na dim, fe oleuodd y Gadeirlan yn ogoneddus mewn dau offrwm o ddefod hyfryd Naw Llith a Charol, ac yn ein Cymun Bendigaid Ganol Nos a’n Cymun Dydd Nadolig.
Y llynedd, daeth dros 1,000 o bobl dros y trothwy ar gyfer ein gwasanaethau arbennig yn ystod yr Adfent a’r Nadolig drwyddi draw. Eleni, ymunodd mwy na’r nifer hwnnw â ni ar gyfer y Naw Llith a’r ddau Gymun Nadolig yn unig. Dylai’r cynydd hwn mewn gweithgarwch ac ymgynnygiad fod yn achos diolchgarwch inni; ond yn fwy byth am i mi deimlo eleni gynydd yn y gobaith a’r gras a adnabyddir ac a rennir yn ein plith. Mae wedi bod yn hyfryd clywed adborth mor gadarnhaol gan ein cynulleidfaoedd a’n cymuned.
Nid oes dim o hyn yn digwydd heb haelioni, ewyllys da a gwaith caled ar ran tîm o gydweithwyr a’n teulu eglwysig ar y cyd. Rwyf mor ddiolchgar i bawb am eich hymrwymiad a’ch ffyddlondeb, ac yn diolch am i hynny dwyn ffrwyth llawen y Nadolig hwn.
Mins peis a phaned
Mae ein dyled yn fawr i dîm o Stiwardiaid, dan arweiniad Canon Lesley Horrocks, a fu’n gweini mins peis a phaned yn y Gadeirlan i ymwelwyr a phererinion o ddydd Mercher i ddydd Sadwrn yr wythnos ddiwethaf hon.
Y Plygain
Cynhelir gwasanaeth traddodiadol y Plygain, pan y ceir yr Hwyrol Weddi a y daw cantorion gwirfoddol lleol i ganu carolau Nadolig Cymraeg hynafol, yn y Gadeirlan ar nos Wener 19 Ionawr am 7.00pm.

Hollalluog Dduw, a ysbrydolaist dy esgob Deiniol i gasglu o’i gwmpas gymuned o Gristnogion i gyd-fyw bywyd cytun; caniatâ i ni, sy’n anrhydeddu’r cof amdano, weithio i atgyfnerthu teulu dy Eglwys mewn ffydd, gobaith a chariad; trwy Iesu Grist ein Gwaredwr. Amen.

This Sunday and the week ahead...
Thanksgiving for the blessings of Christmas
The Sub-Dean writes:
The glow I glimpsed during our Evening Liturgy of Advent Sunday, as Rachmaninoff’s Vespers sustained and accompanied our candlelit prayers, did not dim during the weeks of Advent. It was sustained as we welcomed a multitude of schools, charities, community choirs and voluntary organizations for their carol services. It blazed all the more brightly as we raised donations for Shelter Cymru, our 2023 Christmas Charity, as well for the work of Christian Aid in the Middle East and the ministry of the Cathedral Foodbank. It shone faithfully during our regular Advent observances at the Cathedral and at Eglwys y Groes. Above all, it illumined the Cathedral gloriously at two offerings of a beautiful service of Nine Lessons & Carols, and at our Midnight Eucharist and Eucharist of Christmas Day.
Last year, over 1,000 people crossed the threshold for our special services during the whole of Advent and Christmas. This year, more than that number joined us for our two Carol services and two Choral Eucharists of Christmas alone. This increase of activity and engagement should be the cause of thanksgiving; but all the more so as it felt to me this year to speak of an increase in hope and grace known and shared in our midst. It has been delightful to hear such positive feedback from our congregations and our community.
None of this happens without generosity, good will and hard work on the part of a team of colleagues and our church family as a whole. I am so very grateful to all for your commitment and faithfulness, and give thanks for that it has borne fruit so joyfully this Christmas.
Mince pies and coffee
We owe a debt of thanks to a team of Stewards, led by Canon Lesley Horrocks, who served mince pies and coffee at the Cathedral to visitors and pilgrims from Wednesday to Saturday of this past week.
Plygain
The traditional Welsh service of Plygain, at which Evening Prayers are said and to which local volunteer choirs come to sing ancient Welsh Christmas carols, takes place at the Cathedral on Friday 19 January at 7.00pm.

Almighty God, who inspired your bishop Deiniol to gather around him a community to live the common life: grant that we, who honour his memory, may work to build up the family of your Church in faith and hope and love; through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.
